Nudist on the Late Shift: And other True Tales of Silicon Valley, by Po Bronson

This is one of the most interesting books I have ever read. I believe almost anyone would enjoy it.

If you enjoy well-written true narratives of real people, both famous and unknown, you'll like this book.

If you are an information technology, sales, or other professional thinking of finding a job in the Valley, you should read this book before deciding to move there. (I am speaking as one who lived there and worked as a contract software developer for over 3 years. You should already know about the cost of living and traffic, but there's stuff in here you won't find anywhere else.)

If you have an idea and want to try to mine the gold in the Valley, then you most definitely need to read this book. You will get hard information on the mistakes of others and encouraging tales of those who made it (Hotmail may be the best.) You will even be told where to hang-out -- if the spots haven't changed because of this book. (Hint: They are not all in the Valley.)

Want to know who the top law firm in the Valley is? Whom to see to make sure your $20 million is invested wisely? What hockey stick disease means? What programmers are really like, and what they really want? What's it like to go through the pressure-cooker of an IPO? All this and more is here.
