Make You Love
Vanessa Daou
Vanessa Daou's Make You Love diverts from the well-trodden pop path, but remains accessible to fans of everyone from Sade to Dido. Her ethereal vocals and sensual, synthesized musicality are nearly impossible to resist.

Willa Was Here
Willa Ford
Blond and midriff-bearing, Willa Ford is an added attraction to the army of Britney-imaged wannabes. But with hammer-tough beats and Ford's occasional octave acrobatics, Willa Was Here suggests she's enlisting in the Mariah camp as well.

Plan B
Huey Lewis & The News
We've heard no news from Huey Lewis for 10 years, but Plan B proves that no news is no good. The group retains the air-tight bar-band formula that made them outrageously huge in the '80s, but they've packed away most of the goofball antics in favor of more adult, contemplative lyrics. Editor's Choice
Drops of Jupiter
Train
That Train is currently touring with matchbox twenty might leave some listeners with a false connection between the two groups' styles. Both bands enjoy a lot of radio attention, but Train have a quality that elevates them above the indistinguishable rock bands that flood the airwaves. Drops of Jupiter delivers one of the best singles of the year. While the title track recalls early Elton John, the rest of the album is flush with the group's jam-band-informed musicianship, and creative, tasteful songwriting.
