Bottom line, we agreed that it isn't that women can't handle combat status -- men can't handle it, because they endanger themselves and others by their overprotective attitudes (at least according to the combat sequence in the movie.)

(1996) I don't understand why so many people panned this movie. Demi is very good as the single mom who loses custody of her daughter because she doesn't have a job. The only job she can find is in a stip club. Burt Reynolds got raves for Boogie Nights but I thought his performance here as a bungling, horny congressman in the pockets of the sugar cartel was at least as good. A serious subject - child custody - punctuated with some funny stuff. I wonder if you really could find a boa constrictor in the middle of the night?
